The Eldest Becomes the Youngest

Today, John William, the eldest of our children and the dean of his generation of Leonard sibling offspring, becomes our youngest as his little sis, Jes, surpasses him in age. Our baby, born more than 7 years after her big brother, turns 31 today. John, who died at 30 years of age, will forever be young in our minds - but will also forever be Jes' and Mike's big brother.

About John

This blog is dedicated to our son, John William (JW). John was thirty years old; born on Father’s Day, 1976. Michael and Jessica are his brother and sister. John was single but the last year of his life, with the woman who would become his fiancé, he experienced the same depth of love that we have experienced for over 35 years. John loved life to the fullest. As his brother observed, the last year of John’s life was his best. He loved his job, which often took him all over the world. He bought his first home. He met his fiancé and fell in love. And he continued to be an extraordinary son and thoughtful grandson to his Papa (his father’s father) as well as his Grandma (his mother’s mother). This blog is dedicated to John's love of life and will allow John's family and friends to post whatever they would like to his memory. It will also be used to keep everyone informed as to the status of John's memorial scholarship fund. John was passionate about information technology. With the fund, we hope to, as his brother says, help the big geek foster a lot of little geeks – young people who share his love for technology.
